August 2003-Present: Senior Consultant, Gestalt LLC, King of Prussia PA

Senior designer and developer for a growing technology consulting startup 
focused on energy and utility, media, and defense. Projects include:

* Scenario Generation System (SGS): Central repository for storing and 
manipulating Air Force simulation data. The SGS platform-independent 
data interchange format is used to seed disparate legacy simulation software 
packages in advance of large-scale coordinated exercises. Components include 
server-side web interface and full-featured Java Swing-based Scenario Editor 
desktop application. Responsibilities: Designed and implemented browser-based 
graphical data merge interface to allow operators to rapidly focus on and 
resolve conflicts between exercise scenario definitions. Author of 
event-driven application document model allowing multiple simultaneous 
visualizations of actively-edited scenario data. Key contributor to product 
that helped users trim weeks-long pre-simulation exercise preparation task 
times nearly in half.

* SmartLog: "Web 2.0"-style browser-based application (J2EE, AJAX/DHTML) allows 
power grid distribution center operators to replace manually-entered log data 
with fully auditable emergency event logs for one of the country's largest 
wholesale energy distributors. Responsible for architecture and implementation 
of user interface and middle tier EJB-based persistence layer. Iterative 
development and rapid prototyping methodology ensured long-term traction with a 
highly-trained and efficient expert user base resistant to change. 
SmartLog's uniform auditability and instant availability enables the company to 
better react to and avert cascading failure events like those that caused the 
east coast electricity blackout of 2003.

September 2001-August 2002: Applications Engineer, ZONE Telecom, Cherry Hill NJ

Led development of next-generation enterprise-level communications management 
system. Responsibilities included design and implementation of application 
framework and user interface, providing technical leadership for a small group 
of junior and senior developers. Technologies included Oracle 9i, EJB, 
JSP/Servlets, Jakarta Struts framework.

Technical leadership role with emphasis on Java, XML/XSLT, and handheld 
computing skills. Functioned as technical lead on design and 
implementation efforts for diverse internet-enabled applications. Acted 
frequently in client-facing technical liaison capacity. Projects 
included:

* MerckVaccines.com: Multithreaded, J2EE-enabled pharmaceutical eCommerce and 
information website. Responsibilities: custom multithreaded web 
framework design; Mentored clientÕs junior development staff in Java/J2EE 
technology and best practices.

* Webmedx: Palm Query Application allows physicians to view appointments, 
charts, clinical trial results, wirelessly "sign" reports via Palm devices. 
Responsibilities: Technical lead for handheld development team; implementation 
of device-side interface via custom HTTP-RPC interface.

* StarCite.com meeting planning portal: Member of small development team that 
produced a unique multivariable real-time reverse auction/negotiation 
application. Java applet front-end communicating with web services back end, 
to provide near-real-time updating of dynamic bidding information.
